I only grabbed the San Dimas because i prefer a non-recessed trem if i'm going to have a trem at all. Yeah, in my thread i noted that mine is a USA made San Dimas and the other one is a MIM SoCal that my other guitar player took. Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E Solidbody. I've been tempted by the new ones with coil splitting and the truss rod wheel.Ī lot of people worry about the truss rod, but I've had mine for years and only tweaked the truss rod once or twice and they play great. Whether you use it or abuse it, youll have trouble knocking the Floyd Rose tremolo bridge out of tune. I've played the So Cal MIAs and MIMs and honestly, there is very little difference. The So Cals also are more resonant and sound huge plugged in or unplugged. Mostly because of the recessed trem since I prefer the strings low to the body. Scream or rumble with a recessed Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo bridge and locking nut without sacrificing tuning stability or the pinpoint intonation. The necks on all of them are awesome, but I prefer the So Cals. I have an MIA San Dimas Style 2 (the tele shape) and 2 MIM So Cals. I know the MIM So Cals have a recessed trem, I can't remember if the MIA & MIJ models do. ![]()
